Museum of Underwater Archaeology from Bodrum Cruise Port
Shipwreck treasures and Bronze Age trade — world-class archaeology housed inside Bodrum Castle, minutes from your ship.
Distance
About 800 m–1 km / 10–15 min on foot
Travel time
10–15 minutes walking
Time needed
Allow 1.5–2 hours inside the museum
The Museum of Underwater Archaeology is not a separate building — it occupies the halls and courtyards of Bodrum Castle. From the cruise port it is the same 10–15 minute walk to the castle gate; your ticket includes access to all museum galleries.
The museum grew from Turkish sponge divers' discoveries and decades of systematic excavation in the Aegean. Highlights include the Uluburun shipwreck — a Late Bronze Age vessel carrying copper ingots, glass and luxury goods — and the Glass Wreck Hall with intact Roman amphoras.
Galleries are spread across multiple castle levels connected by stairs and open courtyards. Allow 1.5–2 hours minimum for a meaningful visit. English labelling is good throughout, though a guide adds depth to the shipwreck narratives.
Because the museum shares the castle entrance, all walking directions from the cruise port are identical to Bodrum Castle. There is no separate ticket office — one admission covers the full complex.
